PHOTOGRAPHY ARTICLES

The most important tool for the photographer is their camera. There are so many on the market today and it can be very confusing. I will bring to you some reviews on current models and hopefully making your decision can be an easy one. Please see below the great bargains on digital SLR cameras, a lot cheaper than you can get them from a retail store.

What Camera Should I Purchase

Following is my list of things you need to think about before you make your initial purchase. First there are 2 main types of cameras - the Compact Camera and the Digital SLR Camera (DSLR). You need to decide how many pixels you require, should I have or do I need video - and where should I buy my camera.

Secondly if you go for the compact camera, what sort of features do I need and what brand of camera should I chose. Also buying a DSLR you greatly need to consider the type of features you require as this type of camera is much more expensive.

Some Digital SLRs cameras include:

Canon EOS 1000D
Canon EOS 450D
Canon EOS 500D
Canon EOS 50D
Canon EOS 7D
Nikon D60
Nikon D3000
Nikon D5000
Nikon D90
Nikon 300s
Olympus E-450
Olympus E-520
Olympus E-620
Panasonic Lumix G1
Panasonic Lumix GH1
Pentax K-x
Pentax K-m
Pentax K20D
Samsung GX-10
Samsung GX-20
Sony DSLR a330
Sony DSLR a380
Sony DSLR a500
Sony DSLR a550
Sony DSLR a850

Then you need to consider if you require extra lenses, filters - maybe a tripod. Do I need a flash or do I stick with the in-built one. What type of camera bag and what will I be carrying around. Which is the best storage device - then you need to look at your computer and your computer software to edit and show your photos.
What type of scanner and printer will I need - which leads us into paper and inks etc.

Photography Tips, Taking Good Pictures

With today's technology and high resolution digital cameras, everyone wants to take there own pictures and attempt to be a photographer. Here are some tips on getting great pictures yourself without having to spend a lot of money on expensive equipment, or on a high priced photographer.

Lighting is key. Always make sure that you have your camera on the correct setting for the light that you are in. If you are outside, or around water, there are normally settings for this. Same thing with being indoors or shooting at night. Natural light always provides for the best pictures, so try to shoot somewhere in the mid morning to afternoon. You can also set the automatic flash on if you think it is too dark out or inside of a location. Make sure that you are using the correct settings for your target.

If you are at a sporting event, there are adjustments to catch action and movements, so that your photos don't turn out blurry. If you are trying to get a facial shot you can use smile detection, and I always leave the red eye eliminator on. If you want black and white photos, you should still shoot the portrait in color. You can always change the photo to print in black and white, however if the photo is shot in black and white, you are unable to retrieve it in color. You want to be able to have both options to choose from.

Photoshop - A Great Tool for Photographers

If you are a photographer, amateur or professional, you want your photos to look as good as possible. And sometimes a photograph needs to be tweaked somewhat, or maybe a good bit, to give it the look you would like it to have. Adobe Photoshop is an invaluable aid in manipulating your photos and working with them to get the best possible pictures.

Photoshop is one of the best software programs for dealing with less than perfect photographs and helping them to look their best. Or maybe the photo already looks good but you want it to look different. Photoshop will enable you to change aspects of your pictures and give them a totally new look.

With Photoshop, you can brighten dark photos, darken photos that are too light, change the color balance and the contrast, and sharpen pictures that are somewhat blurred. A color photograph can become black and white or sepia. And you can highlight one item in a black and white photo and make it show up in color, while the rest of the photo will remain black and white.

Photoshop also allows you to remove objects or people from one photograph and place them in another completely different photo. You can change the background of your photos, remove red eye and retouch faces to remove blemishes and scars. You can also remove a distracting image from your photo, such as an extension cord marring the floor. No one will ever know that an object was removed.

Adobe Photoshop has so many tools and features that you will be amazed with the way you can manipulate your photos and change them. If you do not like the way a photograph looks, you can change and improve it.

You need never settle for mediocre photographs with Adobe Photoshop.

When printing out pictures go through a local photo store or online vendor. This way you don't go through ink and have to buy photo paper, and you are getting the best quality photos for a very sensible cost. Even with the high resolution printers available, the professional printers produce much better quality photos. Go out, take good pictures, and make great memories.

When you hear computer graphics animation, you may first think of cartoons, however with the growth of technology this field has expanded into many areas of our lives. For those wishing to do their study at home, keep in mind this requires discipline, and some good software. As for talent, it comes with practice and more practice.

Creating Videos For the Internet

Perhaps the rise of the laptop has resulted in more people using the internet. And perhaps the trend of watching videos on video sites like Youtube has encouraged people to make videos of their own. You don't have to be a professional producer, director, or actor to make a video for the web. Many people are making videos. A person can make a video about practically anything.

A person can make a video to review a product. Visual product reviews can be more personal and demonstrative. Product reviews are more extemporaneous. Reviews like a lot of other video content are engaging.

There are a lot of videos on Youtube chronicling the experience of people with their hair. Such as African Americans talking about their experience so far with growing out their chemically treated hair and going natural. For some people making a video about such things helps them to remember the journey, so to speak, for years to come. Sharing the video on the internet helps others by sharing knowledge with them.

Making video tutorials and sharing them with people on the internet can be extremely helpful. When words only go so far in explaining a technique or process visual aids can be of use. There are tons of video tutorials out there and many of them are free to watch and learn from. Many people use tutorials as teaching aids if they cannot afford to take classes for what they are interested in learning.

Internet videos can also be used as a tool to engage people in intellectual discussions or debates. For example some people make videos posing philosophical questions in hope of a response. These people sometimes receive responses in the form of a comment or a video response.

All a person really needs to make a video is a functioning camera that can transfer videos to a computer so that they can post them on the internet.

How to Take Better Photos

Take a good look through your family photos. Are you happy with them? Do they look like forced poses of unhappy people? Are you seeing people without heads? Are you sure of what the subject of the photo is? Most likely, you have some of these. There are three things you should consider if you are wondering how to take better photos.

First, you need to always know exactly what or who you are taking a picture of. Know your subject. Make sure that this is the center of your photo, and that it is obvious it is the subject. Too many people just aim their cameras carelessly and snap. This often results in crappy pictures.

Second, if you are taking pictures of people, it doesn't always have to be a posed snapshot. In fact, the best pictures are usually those that are out of the ordinary. This is especially true of children, who can be captured in perfect photos, when they don't even know what you are doing.

Third, and this is very important, make sure that you have the entire subject in the viewfinder before you push the button. When have you ever saw a picture of someone with half a head and thought, "Now that is a good photo." ? More than likely, you haven't. if you remember these simple things, you will get some great results. You will have photos in your family album, that you are proud to share. Furthermore, you will have the ability to say that you took them yourself.
